SEED REGULATORY MODERNIZATION

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) plans to modernize the Seeds Regulations as they apply to seeds imported, conditioned, stored, tested, labelled, exported and sold in Canada. It is anticipated that the amendments would reduce overlap and redundancy, increase responsiveness to industry changes, address gaps, weaknesses and inconsistencies, and provide clarity and flexibility to affected regulated parties.

The current Seeds Regulations have been in place since 1905, and while there have been minor changes over the decades, a focused, industry wide review overseen by CFIA is long overdue. Join us on January 28 at 9:00 AM CST for a conversation with our guests as CFIA gets ready to launch their stakeholder survey.

* Wendy Jahn (National Manager, Seed Section CFIA, Co-Chair Seed Regulatory Modernization Working Group)
* Roy Van Wyk (CSI, Industry Co-Chair Seed Regulatory Modernization Working Group) and
* Mike Scheffel (CSGA Managing Director, Policy and Standards)
